I offer two main services:

scanning from slide or negative (using a film scanner) or print (using a flatbed scanner)
manual restoration work

Scans are charged at a flat rate of 25p per image, or £5 per roll of up to 40 pictures. The cost of image manipulation depends on the level of complexity. In common with most other photo restoration services, pricing is based on the amount of work needing to be done. This can be divided into three categories giving a rough break-down of the necessary processing.

Level 1 - Simple processing	Typical cost: £5 per image
This covers basic adjustment of brightness, contrast, colour balance etc, as well as reducing as much as possible background noise

Level 2 - Moderate restoration	Typical cost: £10 per image
This level of service involves a bit more manual alteration, such as touching up minor defects and more advanced colour/brightness/contrast correction.

Level 3 - Advanced restoration/retouch	Typical cost: £15+ per image
This service is designed for photographs which have features such as significant fading in all or part of the picture. There may be cracks or tears. Digital manipulation is also possible, such as removing a background feature (perhaps a tree coming out of someone's head!) - although the success of this depends on the particular image.

These are typical prices, but it is often difficult to guess exactly how much work is needed! I work out prices based on a rate of £20 per hour - bear in mind it is unusual for one particular image to take more than an hour's processing, but it does happen from time to time! Please contact me by email if you would like an estimate based on a description of the condition of the print(s). Alternatively, I am happy to take a look at your photos and provide a more accurate quote, returning the originals for free if you are not happy with the price.

The end result can be returned purely electronically via email, or supplied in a variety of image sizes and resolutions on cd (or dvd for larger images). I can also print good quality images on a photo inkjet, or arrange for professional printing at any size. Another service you may not have considered is having the photos made into a dvd slide show to watch on your tv, or perhaps a website written and hosted!

Please note that prices include FREE return of your original photos (and new prints, if applicable), but if you require extra insurance and peace-of-mind your delivery can be shipped by Special Delivery at an extra cost of £3, providing insurance of up to £250.
